Defining industrial batteries

An industrial battery or battery pack is classified as one of any size or weight which has one of the following defining characteristics:

• The battery has been designed exclusively for industrial or professional use.
• The battery is used as a power source for the propulsion of an electric or hybrid vehicle (including electric cars, wheelchairs, bicycles, airport vehicles & automatic transport vehicles).
• The battery is unsealed but is not an automotive battery.
• The battery is sealed but is not a portable battery.

A battery does not classify as being industrial simply due to being installed by an engineer, or similar, and must meet one of the above characteristics.
